What to eat at Thai Restaurant without getting sick?

Every time I consume Thai food I get sick and have diarrhea. Is there something I could eat at a Thai Restaurant that would not end in this scenario? A salad perhaps?

Thai foods contain many different spices and fish sauce, you may be allergic to some of the spices or the fish sauce itself but do be careful to consume salads in any restaurants, salad is made of much of uncooked veggies that could be exposed to bacteria since many restaurants aren’t very good at washing the veggies before serving.

Not sure how prevalent this is on Thai menu’s outside of my area but there are 4 Thai restaurants close by me and they all make a great crispy duck salad. It’s basically some greens, crispy apple and shredded duck and duck cracklins in a delicious dressing.

I usually also get pad thai

Some ingredients in Thai food like coconut can cause that for some people, or it could be a particular additive that is in most of their food. I’d try making sure you’re ordering something that doesn’t have coconut in it (like a spinach noodle dish or black bean chicken instead of a coconut curry) and seeing if that helps. Try to stay away from the oiliest dishes and dishes involving red meat. Both oils and red meat are also diarrhea triggers. If you’re having something more starchy (rice or noodles) that should also help.

If you’re already doing this and still having problems you might want to get an allergy test to see what’s causing that reaction. It could be a particular spice or additive.

Have you considered that either the restaurant in question is not good or you have an allergy to an ingredient in the food?
